    Movement

    The watch uses Orient's 48743 automatic mechanical movement. It has 21 jewels and a stated running time of more than 40 hours when fully wound.

    Case and wearing dimensions

    The 40 mm diameter × 44 mm length × 10.6 mm thickness makes it relatively restrained for a mechanical men's watch. The 40 mm measurement is the case width, while 44 mm is the vertical lug-to-lug dimension listed by Orient.

    At 127 g, the stainless-steel bracelet gives it a reasonably substantial feel without making it an especially heavy watch. The bracelet is 22 mm wide and is designed for approximately 14–20 cm wrists according to the manufacturer's specification.

    Crystal

    One of the particularly useful features of the WV0551ER is its sapphire crystal. Sapphire is considerably scratch-resistant compared with ordinary mineral crystal, making this a practical feature on a watch intended for regular use. Orient lists sapphire glass in the official specification.

    Dial and design

    The WV0551ER has a relatively conservative silver/white dial with blue hands, applied markers and a traditional dress/business-watch appearance. Contemporary descriptions characterize the design as prioritizing readability while avoiding an overly aggressive or complicated appearance.
